Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to submit their work to the International Journal of Biotechnology and Computational Science (IJBTCS), a British peer-reviewed scientific journal based in the United Kingdom. The journal welcomes original contributions in biotechnology, computational science, bioinformatics, chemoinformatics, and related interdisciplinary fields.

All submissions undergo an initial editorial assessment to determine their relevance to the journal's aims and scope and whether they meet the required scientific and editorial standards. Suitable manuscripts will proceed to peer review before a final editorial decision is made. Manuscripts that fall outside the journal's scope or do not meet the minimum requirements may be declined during the initial assessment.

IJBTCS accepts free-format manuscripts for initial submission. Authors are not required to use the journal's final publication template at this stage; however, manuscripts should be complete, clearly structured, scientifically sound, and written in a form suitable for editorial and peer-review assessment. Titles should be concise and informative, abstracts should clearly summarize the work, and figures, tables, and references should be appropriately presented.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that the submitted work is original, is not simultaneously under consideration by another journal, and has been approved by all listed authors. Where applicable, authors must obtain appropriate ethical approval, informed consent, and permission to reproduce copyrighted materials, datasets, figures, or other third-party content.

References should be accurate, complete, and consistently formatted using a recognized academic citation style. DOI information should be included where available. Final formatting according to the IJBTCS publication requirements will be required following acceptance.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements:

  • The submission complies with the journal's Author Guidelines and falls within the aims and scope of IJBTCS.

  • The manuscript is original, has not been previously published, and is not currently under consideration by another journal.

  • All listed authors have approved the manuscript and agreed to its submission.

  • All references have been checked for accuracy and completeness.

  • All tables and figures are clearly numbered, labelled, and cited in the manuscript.

  • Permission has been obtained for any copyrighted figures, images, datasets, or other third-party materials included in the submission.

  • Ethical approval and informed consent have been obtained where applicable.

  • Funding sources and potential conflicts of interest have been disclosed where applicable.

  • Submissions may be screened for plagiarism, citation integrity, and inappropriate or undisclosed use of AI-generated content as part of the journal's research integrity checks.

  • Free-format manuscripts are accepted for initial submission. Use of the IJBTCS manuscript template is optional at this stage. Following acceptance, manuscripts must comply with the journal's final publication format.

  • Authors who require professional assistance may request the journal's optional Manuscript Formatting and Language Editing Services, starting from £50, depending on manuscript length, word count, and the level of support required. Scientific Assistance services start from £100. These services are entirely optional and have no influence on editorial assessment, peer review, acceptance, or publication priority.

Copyright Notice

By submitting a manuscript to the International Journal of Biotechnology and Computational Science (IJBTCS), authors confirm and agree to the following:

  1. Copyright Ownership: Authors retain copyright in their work. Submission to IJBTCS does not transfer copyright ownership to the journal.

  2. Licence to Publish: Authors grant IJBTCS the right to publish, reproduce, distribute, archive, and make the accepted article and its supplementary materials available as part of the journal's scholarly publishing activities, subject to the journal's applicable open-access licence.

  3. Originality and Rights: Authors confirm that the submitted work is original, is not simultaneously under consideration by another journal, and does not knowingly infringe the copyright or intellectual property rights of any third party.

  4. Third-Party Materials: Authors are responsible for obtaining any permissions required to reproduce copyrighted figures, tables, images, datasets, or other third-party materials included in their submission.

  5. Open Access: Accepted articles will be made publicly available in accordance with the journal's open-access and licensing policies. Appropriate attribution to the authors and the original publication must be maintained.

  6. Author Responsibility: The submitting author confirms that all listed authors have approved the manuscript, agreed to its submission to IJBTCS, and have the authority to grant the publication rights described above.
